As promised the latest YAMF version is now available in the download section (Code). A tidbit of changelog: Added support to re-encode any separate audiostream before multiplexing it into the Matroska container. I also changed the ogg support from Oggenc to ffmpeg simply to keep the number of external programs down that must be juggled and maintained by you. I have altogether moved away from mencoder being the sole encoder and now also use faac, ffmpeg and eac3to and its various DLLs. Yes, I (optionally) use Windows-only functions (such as eac3to) simply because its functionality does not exist on the Linux platform. Further reasons are that mencoder does a really bad job downmixing some audio and I eventually decided to add the ability to process separately. I found that simply 'isn't there yet' when it comes to Bluray. You may beg to differ and the code will mostly run unchanged with the cross-platform encoders. To use the new audio-encoding features add an audio-stream, tick the re-encode box and right-click to bring up the re-encoding options and I will document them at some later point. For the new options to work you will need to define the location of the encoders in your profile. The command line (or thereabouts) YAMF will generate for the options picked will always be shown at the bottom of the dialog. The output of everything will as always be collected and shown at the end of the encoding and multiplexing process. As the audio-encoding stage may take a while I added another status display which gives you somewhat of an idea where YAMF is at. Some things may not work in this regard such as the fact that faac will not encode an AC3 file. If you instead use eac3to to do this, eac3to will do the necessary magic to let this happen which makes it the superior option. Of course, this limits you to the Windows platform. If some encoding option does not work as expected, copy and paste the generated commnad, adjust it if necesssary and paste it into a shell or command window. This makes it much easier to debug than to wait for a possibly lengthy audio- and video encoding process to end. Not everything has been extensively tested so I hope to receive some feedback. Let me know how it goes. As for now I am adding VP8 support including the webm container. Look for this in the next drop. Please leave feedback in the fresh new forum.
