Lots of cool new stuff and hopefully a lot less bugs. I tried hard to do a good deal of development and testing under Linux.

version history

0.47

  • Ability to import nfos - Read existing nfos and create Media Reader database (if you ever want to switch from another tool) ..
  • Fixed movie edit dialog - genres. Genre list removed two genres when one was selected for deletion.
  • Ability to create folder structure from flat movie files, i.e. move all movie files into separate directories.
  • Profile dialog has a misaligned item overlaying another element under Linux.
  • Occasional nullpointer exception retrieving images from web.
  • Rewriting TV nfos causes SQL error.
  • Added 'Series' artwork to TV artwork browser (and artwork retrieval for series art for XBMC)
  • Added ability to prefer portrait style artwork for banners (Turn on in profile). (Code will try *desperately* to find portrait artwork so give it some time. The good word is that everything will be cached and you will be able to very quickly browse the artwork later on in Media Reader). I found it a pain that Aeon wanted portrait style art and I had all landscape art but by simply choosing "File->Rewrite nfos" I now have all neat portrait style season "banners".
  • Studio was not properly shown in edit dialog (but scraped right).
  • Media Reader now creates '/extra' and '/extrathumbs' directory when 'Retrieve maximum images' is set in profile. Note: This will in general retrieve *lots* of images and take a good while.
  • Media Reader now hopefully runs on OS X.
  • Fixed problems null pointer exception processing obscure TV series.
  • Fixed problems playing back movies under Linux and OS X.
  • Fixed problems 'file not found' for mediainfo under Linux and OS X.
  • Redid the color scheme.
  • Play button improperly sometimes improperly enable on main application screen pane.
  • Fixed issues spawning external processes (using ProcessBuilder instead of Process).
  • Totem player support
  • bugs, bugs, bugs and a lot more testing under Linux.
  • Context menus not displayed in actor dialogs.

Automatic subtitle download

Yes, you read right. You can now point to a movie title, right click and pick 'subtitles'. Media Reader will query opensubtitles.org and present you with a list of subtitles, their languages, type, etc. (opensubtitles.org is slow so it may take several seconds). Beginning with this release Media Reader will also automatically calculate hash values for your movies when reading tech info (you may have to tell it to reread this via "File -> Scan file info", it's a fairly quick process). It then matches the hash value of the movie against the hash value of the subtitle. If they exactly match, the subtitle language will be shown in green, otherwise it will show red. This doesn't mean it won't go together, you might need to adjust the initial offset, though. When selected it will download the subtitle file, unzip it and copy it into your movie directory with the proper name, including the acutal language, i.e. "Red Dawn.Romanian.srt. If you really like this feature I will add a function to adjust the subtitle offset.
