It's on the list (I need it myself ;-). Hopefully this weekend.

BTW, try to start a new thread - this one's getting huge ..

Ok so did some experimenting and found that the missing flash plugin was the source of the java error. To fix I linked the flash plugin to /home/ryan/MediaReader/native/linux/xulrunner/plugins/. So you may want to add to your documentation.

I also have a question is it possible to select the art that MR assoiates with a movie? I have a few movies where it selects a german poster If I go to artwork the english one is there but I don't see a way to change it.

Don't know what to say about Java. It just shouldn't crash. I guess you could do as it says and take it to Sun. I don't really do any funny business with it. I'd say it's a Java bug.

As for the Flash plugin - The Flash plugin installer knows nothing about Media Reader. Under Linux you have to establish a symbolic link for it for Media Reader. Windows picks it up automatically.

I will look at the details for it. I know it's relatively easy to do but haven't done so myself. Under OSX at the moment you do not get Flash because of the Lobo limitation.

I'll check it out and get back with you (or you are free to experiment with it and let me know, too ;-).

Anyhow, it can be done, having talked to others that did. Media Reader uses its own version of Mozilla, not the system one.

Also it does a lot of complaining about the flash plugin not being installed , the plugin is installed and configured for firefox. Is it just a matter of linking the plugin somewhere in the MR dir ?

I will keep poking at it and let you know if I find anything elese

Thanks

Stacking: I did some work on that as well. I couldn't say off the top off my head whether it addresses your symptom but it does fix some things. We'll see.

Also, I will release a 'How to' aand 'FAQ' hopefully this weekend. This should answer your rescrape question and what happens on 'Sanitize' and all the other more obscure things.

Hi,

the problem with the browser is solved, I believe. It should have found its home, I thought I tried it but not sure. The directory structure has been moved around a bit, so that should be ok now.

The look-and-feel is solved. I believe it is even in one of the later 0.48 downloads. It is an issue I was aware of and checkcing for /forcing Java look and feel under some Linux. The reason is that there is a bug in the gecko engine / SWT xulrunner code which makes it go into a loop with that look and feel. It has been accepted by Sun, ergo the 'furute' Java VM version. But, as I said, I have a work-around.

The discrepancy of movie findings is due to the fact that Media Reader starts out with an IMDB query. The criterion across TMDB and IMDB that you can use both with an IMDB ID to identify a movie. The same is true for subtitles. This is very easily resolved (unless your browser does not work ;-). Point to the movie and pick 'Rescrape'. This will remvoe the movie from the database and pop up the moviepicker window. If the title you want does not show up, hit 'Browse'. This will pop up the browser at IMDB where the code thought it was. Simply navigate to the page that shows the right title and click on the checkmark in the browser. Media Reader will find the IMDB ID in the page and show it to you. Of course, the browser must work for this.

As for the double title for TV episodes. What I do, often for season openers which are oftern two episodes. I go into rename and rename as usual, which gets everything from the second one on wrong. Then I go into Rename again, uncheck the first one and use the spinner to increment the episode counter by one and hit rename again. This tie through all the episodes are ok. Of course, the first episode might not be correct in title and you can edit it to give it the proper title. Just don't change the 'SExxExx' part.

There will be a new version this weekend. It will have Mac support and a radically redesigned movie application display (it will show you which ones have artwork, nfo, trailer, etc. You can filter by genre and title and sort all columns by clicking. This is all already working. For the Mac support I still have to finish up re-introducing Lobo. Under Mac only a 64 bit version of Java is available (although there is an open-source soy-latte which does seem to hang Media Reader). Unfortunately there are no 64 bit bindings yet (should come anytime) for xulrunner, so Mac folks will have to do with Lobo. It should be sufficient to locate the right page on IMDB. (Yes, I bought a Mac, so it *will* work).

I will do some thorough testing on Linxu, make sure the browser works.

Also a Question is the search using the moviedb ? When I search "The X-Files: Fight the Future" On tmdb it comes right up but when I use the search in MR only "The Making of _The X Files_ Fight the Future_" Comes up.

Just a thought would it be possible to make tv renaming a little more elegant ? As it stands now the files on my machine have to show in order for the renaming to work, would it be possible to be able to reorder that list so I don't have to keep moving renamed files out of that directory ?

Also it seems that stacking doesn't work correctly I started with this

"Cube/:
total 0
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ryan ryan 0 2009-07-03 09:07 Cube.CD1.avi
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ryan ryan 0 2009-07-03 09:07 Cube.CD2.avi"

and ended up with this

"ll Cube/
total 240
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ryan ryan      0 2009-07-03 09:07 Cube 2_ Hypercube.CD1.avi
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ryan ryan 111233 2009-07-03 09:08 Cube 2_ Hypercube-fanart.jpg
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ryan ryan   2419 2009-07-03 09:08 Cube 2_ Hypercube.nfo
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ryan ryan 115556 2009-07-03 09:08 Cube 2_ Hypercube.tbn
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ryan ryan      0 2009-07-03 09:07 Cube.CD2.avi"

I am assuming this is not the intended behaviour ?

One more thing Just looking for your input on this one some of my 2 part tv shows are encoded in one file something along the lines of Frasier.S10E11-12.avi how do you propose I handel those? Should I just assign it to 11 or 12 and be done with it or do you think there is a more elegant way ?

Anything that can read/write Java embedded database  (derby) would do.Something that can use JDBC wpould probably do.

But then again, things look like either Friday night or Saturday morning are ready so it might not be worth the trouble...

So I tried it on my colection and have encountered one problem so far when I try to read the media  info from a file I get this error

"A truncation error was encountered trying to shrink VARCHAR 'MPEG-4 Visual' to length 10."

When I manually run

"mediainfo ../24\ season\ 1/24\ -\ S01E01\ -\ Day\ 1\ -\ 12_00\ A.M.-1_00\ A.M..avi"

I get

Ah, much better. I got rid of the module yesterday ;-) but still hav an odler version in svn. I'll see what that does. Thank you so much in helping swatting the bugs.

No, don't think so. I have all Bab5, that's ~ 100 episodes. I have used it with X-File, 9 seasons, a gazillion episodes. No messages, nothing? A stack dump? That looks 100% correct.

Again thanks for the great program.

1.) Already fixed but I do not want to up the version number for little things like that. I noticed it myself and found annoying.

2.) Java has this annoying tendency to want to change the layout. I will check and make sure it's aligned.

3.) I thought I had it fixed but will look again.

4.) I believe this is fixed but will check to make sure.

5.) Can you tell me the folder structure and where within it you start scanning?

6.) That is a Swing bug. I got around it by just exiting and trying again. If it still doesn't work, let me know the exact folder structure and names.

Note hat when I say 'Already fixed' it means here in my development environment, not as a release for download. I will not release a new version more often than once a week so my hoster does not get a heart attack or start charging me like crazy. I turned on web statistics to see how much bandwidth I am actually burning. This download count of 20,000 cannot be true and if it were they are going to dump me.Yell

Thanks for your patience as always. You see that I am putting in new features but with new features come new bugs. Of course, I am trying to make it the best Media Manager and that is challenging considering the competition ...

The next drop will have more Aeon support primarily and your bugs fixed.
