Well, I'd file that under 'when I am too bored'.
If my recollection is correct there is quite a bit of logic assuming that such a structure has been established on the first pass over the episodes (don't know whether you noticed that it's a two-pass process). |

Looks like it picked up all the art this time.
Still need to go through and delete the duplicate art and nfos
Might I suggest having the logic look for either the Season x folder above the episodes -or- the series name? If the series name is the immediate parent directory, then the files only need to be sorted into seasons, and not have an additional series name directory created. |

Not entirely sure what is going on there with the construction of the file structure. Here is the logi in detail:
The code finds the actual episodes, i.e. Hung - S01E01. It then checks whether the directory above it is 'Season 1' or 'Season 01', etc. becauses these are season 1 files. Ok, if there is this directory it is happy. It then checks whether the directory above it is 'Hung' because this is the show. If it is, it is content. If not, it starts creating this structure beginning with the directory above the actual tc episode, at least this is how it is supposed to work. I can check on it again. I would suggest (unless this is a pervasive problem and you have a couple of thousand files in which case I'd give you some sort of fix) that you create the structure as described, i.e. SERIES - SEASON x - EPISODE for this season. Note that the series name has to exactly match what MR found. If not it is not considered a match.
Let me know whether this is how it works ... |

Still working on this. Not sure whats going on yet.
Originally, I had my tv shows listed in /TV Shows/Series name/ with all the episodes for all seasons just dumped in that directory.
MR created another directory inside /TV Shows/Series name/ also named "series name" and seasons folders inside that so the structure is now like /TV Shows/Series Name/Series Name/Season xx (I took another look at the docs and found not mention that MR would do this BTW, but that is beside the point) Anyways, I noticed that /TV Shows/Series Name contains a tvshow.nfo, the thumbnails for each season, as well as the fan art. Then all of that is found yet again inside /TV Shows/Series Name/Series Name. This could be part of the problem. Still waiting for my TV Show source to finish re-scanning. I don't know why this would be an issue since the thumbs and the fanart are still there. However, having them there twice is a waste of space. Negligible when compared to the space taken by the media, true, but a waste nonetheless. I haven't removed these duplicates yet, but this second rescan is showing promise.

Let me know when you figure it out. Might be useful to know for myself. |

I know that's probably not the answer you want to hear but that soudns right and the only explanation I have is that fanart might be turned off. You probably know that once you have a show scanned in XBMC it won't take a look at it againeven if things have changed. So if you add the show, scan it and then add the fanart, XBMC will not see it.Call it a feature or call it a defect.
Yes, you can have more than one fanart. Youc an go into profile and turn on 'Retrieve max images (or something of that sort, don't have it in front of me) and it will create *for movies* two folders underneath the movefolder with further fanart. Note that this can take quite a long time to download and you may wind up with *many* images (a couple of hundred for '300' at last count). The code makes no assumption about whether there are duplicates as it grabs all the images it can. Of course, your skin must support this (I believe Aeon can). You can also add material manually by going into 'Artwork' for a movie, right-click somewhether into the tree on the left and it will let you both browse (as in browsing the web) or choose (as in choosing a file on your computer) to be added. You can then even go ahead and set these as defaults if you want to.
In any case - yes, you can have it pull in tons of images. If you really want to go crazy have it generate thumbnails for you straight from the movie, if you want. |

My file structure is pretty darn well organized, and MR moved everything into further sorted files.
the current structure is /TV Shows/Show name/show name/season x/show name - SxxExx - title.extension
inside /TV Shows/show name/ is tvshow.nfo
inside /TV Shows/show name/show name/ i have fanart.jpg, folder.jpg (both of which, open and are viewable), season00.tbn, season01.tbn...etc, tvshow.nfo
and each episode has a corresponding tbn and nfo in seach season folder. all the files seem to open up properly, but rarely seem to get scanned/loaded by xbmc.
Im pretty sure i have fanart turned on (though im not at home to double-check right now), and Im using the minimeedia skin. a handful of my shjows actually display the thumbnail and the fanart, but the majority show neither.
Also, is it possible to attach multiple fanarts to the series that gets rotated through (assuming the skin supported it)? |

As you did, I generally remove the whole source and re-add it because it is just too painful to do it on an individual basis. First - are proper files created (i.e. is the naming of the tbn files correct?). Second: Try renaming the .tbn file to .jpg (just for testing, rename it back afterwards) - Is it a jpg file?
Same for fanart - can you actually look at it via some sort of viewer (or as Windows thumbnail)? Does it look ok?
I use this extensively so I'd be surprised if it was messed up.
Could you give me the naming structure of your files? Maybe XBMC gets confused as to which thumbnail/fanart goes with what.
The fanart always goes with the whole show. Let me give you an example. Say 'Battlestar Galactica'.
You should have a directory 'Battlestar Galactica'. Inside this directory you should find two files 'tvshow.nfo' (which describes the general series) and a 'fanart.jpb' - which would be the fanart. Underneath there would be Season1 - Seasonx and then the shows in the individuals files underneath that.
Have you turned on fanart in XBMC? |
